ReplyDeleteAs human beings, we are capable of feeling such intense, all-encompassing love. And to feel so devastated when it's not requited, when it's not given to us.
Why? Why does this feeling exist? To be able to so lose control over your feelings over someone else.
To lose control is good... As long as we don't hurt ourselves by doing it.
DeleteAnd well... It's natural to feel devastated after rejection. And it's important not to lose faith and not to give up. Here's a quote from Paulo Coelho's book I recently read:
"For the warrior, there is no such thing as impossible love. He does not let himself be intimidated by silence, indifference or rejection. He knows that behind the mask of ice that people wear there exists a heart of fire.

DeleteIf it requited and fulfilled, it grows old and stale over time, and that hurts. If it is unhappy, unreturned love, then it hurts even worse.

You quote Coelho, you like his style? I'm reading, At the river Piedra I sat down and cried, I read it in english and spanish (A las orillas de rio Piedra...), as a way to learn spanish. I've just started the book, I've been starting it for a while now, lol.
DeleteYes, I could say I like his style. I read most of his works. I also like Andrei Makine, Herman Hesse, Scott Peck, Momo Kapor... But I must say Milorad Pavic is my favorite!
DeleteHmm, I admit, I've only heard of those writers, haven't read them. I read a lot, but it's mostly history, sociology, economics, popular science, biographies. I find it hard to lose myself in fiction but I've been coming back to it lately.
